AI transformation for commercial and equipment lenders

Lending

Native builds AI agents that chase borrower documents, spread financials and draft credit memos for commercial and equipment lenders. Live in weeks.

Where AI has an impact in lending

Deal intake and screening

New submissions classified on arrival and checked against program and policy fit before anyone spends time on them.

Needs lists

A complete, stage-specific document request built for each deal from your own credit policy.

Document chasing

Borrowers and brokers reminded on cadence, with each upload named, checked and filed.

Financial spreading

Returns, statements and rent rolls spread into your template, with every number traced to its source.

Also
  • Credit memo drafting
  • Covenant monitoring
  • Lender and investor matching
  • Pipeline updates

Native helps commercial and equipment lenders take the slow middle out of every deal: collecting borrower documents, spreading the financials and drafting the credit memo. Agents build the needs list for each deal, chase what is missing and hand the credit officer a memo ready to edit. Lenders see the first agent in production within weeks.

Case study · A regional commercial lender

A commercial lender got complete files to underwriting in days instead of weeks.

Native helped a regional commercial lender put agents on document collection and credit memo drafting. Borrowers now get one complete needs list within a day of submission, and credit officers start each deal from a drafted memo.

1 dayfrom submission to a complete needs list, down from about a week
2 hoursto a first credit memo draft once the file is complete, down from about 2 days
4 hoursmaximum time any document sits unreviewed in the queue

The challenge

Processors built needs lists by hand from memory and old checklists, so borrowers were asked for documents in rounds. Files reached underwriting incomplete, and credit officers spent much of each deal spreading financials and writing memos from scratch.

What we built

  • A rules layer that turns the lender's credit policy into needs lists by stage, loan type, program and property type, editable by the credit team.
  • A collection agent that sends the approved first request, follows up on cadence, and checks and files each document as it arrives.
  • A spreading and memo agent that fills the lender's template, ties out the financials and drafts the memo in the house format.

The result

Deals stopped stalling in collection, underwriters started from complete files, and credit officers spent their time on the credit call instead of the paperwork.

Frequently asked questions

How is AI used in commercial lending?

AI is most useful in the work between application and underwriting: building needs lists, chasing documents, spreading financials and drafting the credit memo. The credit decision stays with the lender.

Can AI write a credit memo?

AI can draft one in your house format, with the ratios computed and every figure traced to its source. The credit officer edits it and makes the recommendation.

Can AI spread financial statements accurately?

Yes, when it's built for real files: scanned returns, partial years and documents that disagree. Every figure links to its source page and low-confidence reads are flagged for a person.

Will AI replace our loan origination system?

No. Agents work alongside your LOS and email, reading from and writing to them through an approval step.

How long does it take to deploy AI at a lender?

The first agent, usually document collection, is in production within weeks. Spreading and memo drafting follow, and the whole credit operation can work with agents within months.
